Lady Gaaaa-biillion

Lady GaGa the first music artists to reach 1 billion online video hits. According to Mashables. (http://mashable.com/2010/03/24/lady-gaga-billion/) Many artist has reached the online video hit mark but, Lady GaGa is a GaGa-iollion record breaker. I must admit I was not a big fan of lady GaGa in the beginning but, all that changed when I heard her sing acappella on SNL Saturday Night Live last year 2009. I was blown away! I am sure I was not the only person who felt this way. But, the auto-tuning and her outlandish clothing distracted me from recognizing her true talents. "Taylor Swift who?" Ga-Ga should have definitely won the Grammy award for best artist of 2009. This is a great accomplishments for Lady Ga-Ga. Lady Ga-Ga gets a thumps up from me!

BLACK BERRY UNDERCOVER lover

BLACK BERRY UNDERCOVER lover Today on Daily Bulldog reporter, Retro Inc. reported findings of social media use in California. www.bulldogreporter.com Retro Inc. is an online electronic shopping site. According to Retro Inc. 1,000 people had participated in the survey and the results were not surprising to me. Statistics show 48% of social media users like myself update their Facebook or Twitter after going to bed. I must admit, I use my blackberry to check my Facebook page and my twitter page probably more than 15 times during the day. And my blackberry becomes my undercover lover at night because I probably update my twitter page at least 5 to 8 times in bed. Is this an addiction? Hmm The survey also revealed that 7% said they check messages during intimate moments. And 7% wouldn't mind being interrupted during sex to check messages on their phone. This is very surprising to me. To conclude I must say social media can be addictive and for me, my blackberry is the device that keeps me in the KNOW. It’s my daily fix. So, with that being said Blackberry will always be my undercover lover!!! :)

Facbook is causing syphilis

Facbook is causing syphilis I found an interesting article today by the San Francisco Chronicles. The article is addressing a new epidemic in which more and more cases of syphilis is developing amongst young people in the UK. Officials are speculating that Facbook is causing syphilis cases to rise. “Social networking sites are making it easier for people to meet up for casual sex” said professor Peter Kelly. Kelly is also the director of public health in Hartlepool, England. ( copy and paste link to read more) http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/techchron/detail?&entry_id=59826#ixzz0j8ySNnEX In my opinion, I truly believe there may be a correlation between the two. Social media has developed a new realm of communication. It changed the way we interact with people on daily basis. When people participate on social networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace it gives people the opportunity to disclose their personal information to the world. Such as, their age, their location, interests, employment, e-mail address, telephone number and relationship status. Ask yourself this. Will you give this type of information to a random person on the street? Social Media strips the process of face-to-face verbal communication. So, therefore, there is no additional information to be shared between two parties who have met on Facebook. Because the person has already viewed the other individuals profiles and they gained a sense of familiarity with each other. So, what is next to do? Relationships are established with random people. And it is possible that “Social networking sites are making it easier for people to meet up for casual sex. Mentioned by public health director in the UK Professor Kelly. What do you think?

FREE Metrocards for 2010 Census

Free Metro Cards Last Friday, March 19 I was personally invited to attend The US Census bureau news conference at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. In attendance were the New York Immigration of Coalition, New City Comptroller John Lui and the northeast regional office of the U.S. Census Bureau. The conference covered the importance of the U.S .Census such as gaining funding for your state. This will help to determine the increase in employment, fund schools and hospitals. The conference provided a Census Timeline of operations: Here are a few dates March 27 Jackson heights 2010 census kickoff event first 100 families that show up receives free metro cards (amount was not indicated) April 1 second mailing of Census survey will be arriving for those people who haven't mailed their form back May 1 Census workers will visit households that still have not mailed their surveys back One important concern the panel addressed at the conference was the privacy of the census survey. They assured that all information provided is strictly confidential. My question was then why do they need of the telephone numbers of each household? If it is confidential "why is this needed?" The Census survey is asking for the head of each household to record all members in the home including illegal immigrants. I can see why people may be hesitating to fill these surveys out. Who wants to risk being deported? More events are to come soon in the coming months. I will keep you posted.
