SSSSHHHH ONLY SOCIAL MEDIA ALLOWED
here is a touching story a man name Clark Harris is trying to raise money AND awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Harris's mom died this past February due to her cancer. His unique way of doing this is only communicating through social media networks and the Internet. He is not talking for the whole month of May... he is only using facebook, twitter, emails, text messaging and whatever you can think of!
I think it's unique but one question? How is it going to raise money? We'll it's a start!
I hope Clark raises the money he desire!

Apple fishing for sales?
Ok ok enough is enough...what is going at Apple headquarters? Another one of its product is leaked and this time it's the new macbook. Really Apple? hmmm...something fishy is going on... about a month ago the latest 4g iPhone was leaked and Jason Chen who works for gizmodo home was raided for no apparent reason because he revealed the prototype online. Supposedly, it was reported stolen
some people say Apple's secrecy is in jeopardy but i think this is being done on purpose a PR move if you ask me to generate excitement for its newest product because the iPad was such a let down which had not reached it projected sales the first week. so my question is...Apple are you fishing for sales now?
what do yo think?

MAY 31 QUIT FACEBOOK DAY
I guess you already know what's the big fuss about! May 31 is the official day to boycott Facebook due to its new privacy changes. The purpose of this is to stop facebook for sharing your personal information with other websites. Of course you can opt out of this feature but the audacity facebook have to do this is disturbing. I feel facebook users shouldn't have to opt out of any feature. They should be able to opt in. Give people the choice. So, on May 31 2010 i will be deleting my facebook page. Enough is enough. Fight the power :D
To find out more about this click on this link below from mashables.

VERIZON SANGS THE SAMSUNG BLUES
A man's phone exploded in his face after leaving the gym gizmodo reports. After leaving the gym Corey said his phone fell in between the driver and passenger electronic seat. When corey finally retrieved the phone it busted in his face and eyes.
Sounds like a serious lawsuit about to emerge. Althouh corey's eyes are doing okay for now Samsung offers to pay his medical bills and spot him a brand new phone.
If i was corey i wouldn't stop there because there is no reason why a phone should blow up. Maybe i should take that as sign...and don't leave phone at the bed post at night because it may blow up while i'm asleep.

iPhone nightmare
A couple of weeks ago a corporate an executive lost the newest iPhone prototype in a California bar. Gawker media who own Gizmodo bought the iPhone from someone who said they “found it.” Jason Chen the blogger who hosts Gizmodo website showed pictures of the new iPhone. Apple requested the iPhone be returned to them and From my understanding Gizmodo did just that. However, the Califonia police department raided Jason Chen’s home anyway. The police department took Jason’s computer among other things. Some people say that The police department violated Jason Chens journalist right. but on the flip side Apple lawyers are saying Jason is not a journalist "he's just a blogger" hmmmmm just a blogger???
Earlier this week we learned that even after the iPhone was returned to Apple that Apple still requested a warrant for Jason’s home. This story is still developing and I will keep you posted.
According to the California law it is illegal to buy stolen goods and this is why Jason’s apartment was raided? This doesn’t make since to me the goods was returned!
I have a suggestion for Steve Jobs Apple's creator “fire that corporate executive who lost the phone in the first place.” I still believe all this done on purpose to generate buzz for the upcoming iPhone. But Whatever the case may be… this will be a nasty battle between Apple and Gawker Media. Yup real juicy :)
The courts will determine Jason's journalist claim and Apple's evil side will be revealed..

NO MORE JUSTIN BIEBER FEVER …
NO MORE JUSTIN BIEBER FEVER…
Twitter has confirmed that it has revamped its system by changing its trending topics feature to what is most relevant . If you’ve noticed Justin Bieber has been one of the trending topics for months. So, twitter decided to put in place breaking news stories or what is most shocking.
I think this is good because I am tired of Justin Bieber he’s everywhere. At one time Justin Bieber was a topic on the white house Facebook page. Yea, I know what you’re thinking. What a great use of social media from the White House. I shook my head on that one!
However, I have nothing against Justin but enough is enough!!!

As technology progresses the social media platform gets larger and larger… this is the best way to expressing your opinions instantly. So if you are not a part of this new phenomenon then you essentially don’t exist! That goes for personal use or business … businesses around the world took advantage of social media to promote and advertise and individuals use social media to get employed…so think about it. Wanna cheat like Tiger? There’s an app for that…
Wanna cheat like Tiger? There’s an app for that…
Earlier this year the New York Post released an article that explained the newly created application for the iPhone called the “tiger text.” In light of the Tiger Woods scandal the purpose of this is to erase any incriminating text messages that are sent from your phone to the recipient’s phone.
Okay so my opinion on this is split… because there have been times when I wish I could retract a text message I sent. However, it was never to lie about cheating in a relationship …I think that is ridiculous this new app will only increase dishonesty in people and lying about cheating on your spouse is not a message you want portray to young people. Because it’s saying that this is okay to do… and it really isn’t.
I’m curious to know how this pans out!

Lady Gaaaa-biillion
Lady GaGa the first music artists to reach 1 billion online video hits. According to Mashables. (http://mashable.com/2010/03/24/lady-gaga-billion/)
Many artist has reached the online video hit mark but, Lady GaGa is a GaGa-iollion record breaker. I must admit I was not a big fan of lady GaGa in the beginning but, all that changed when I heard her sing acappella on SNL Saturday Night Live last year 2009. I was blown away! I am sure I was not the only person who felt this way. But, the auto-tuning and her outlandish clothing distracted me from recognizing her true talents. "Taylor Swift who?" Ga-Ga should have definitely won the Grammy award for best artist of 2009.
This is a great accomplishments for Lady Ga-Ga. Lady Ga-Ga gets a thumps up from me!

BLACK BERRY UNDERCOVER lover
BLACK BERRY UNDERCOVER lover
Today on Daily Bulldog reporter, Retro Inc. reported findings of social media use in California. www.bulldogreporter.com
Retro Inc. is an online electronic shopping site. According to Retro Inc. 1,000 people had participated in the survey and the results were not surprising to me. Statistics show 48% of social media users like myself update their Facebook or Twitter after going to bed.
I must admit, I use my blackberry to check my Facebook page and my twitter page probably more than 15 times during the day. And my blackberry becomes my undercover lover at night because I probably update my twitter page at least 5 to 8 times in bed. Is this an addiction? Hmm
The survey also revealed that 7% said they check messages during intimate moments. And 7% wouldn't mind being interrupted during sex to check messages on their phone. This is very surprising to me.
To conclude I must say social media can be addictive and for me, my blackberry is the device that keeps me in the KNOW. It’s my daily fix. So, with that being said Blackberry will always be my undercover lover!!!

Facbook is causing syphilis
Facbook is causing syphilis
I found an interesting article today by the San Francisco Chronicles. The article is addressing a new epidemic in which more and more cases of syphilis is developing amongst young people in the UK. Officials are speculating that Facbook is causing syphilis cases to rise. “Social networking sites are making it easier for people to meet up for casual sex” said professor Peter Kelly. Kelly is also the director of public health in Hartlepool, England. ( copy and paste link to read more)
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/techchron/detail?&entry_id=59826#ixzz0j8ySNnEX
In my opinion, I truly believe there may be a correlation between the two. Social media has developed a new realm of communication. It changed the way we interact with people on daily basis.
When people participate on social networking sites such as Facebook or Myspace it gives people the opportunity to disclose their personal information to the world. Such as, their age, their location, interests, employment, e-mail address, telephone number and relationship status. Ask yourself this. Will you give this type of information to a random person on the street?
Social Media strips the process of face-to-face verbal communication. So, therefore, there is no additional information to be shared between two parties who have met on Facebook. Because the person has already viewed the other individuals profiles and they gained a sense of familiarity with each other. So, what is next to do? Relationships are established with random people. And it is possible that “Social networking sites are making it easier for people to meet up for casual sex. Mentioned by public health director in the UK Professor Kelly.
What do you think?
FREE Metrocards for 2010 Census
Free Metro Cards
Last Friday, March 19 I was personally invited to attend The US Census bureau news conference at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. In attendance were the New York Immigration of Coalition, New City Comptroller John Lui and the northeast regional office of the U.S. Census Bureau.
The conference covered the importance of the U.S .Census such as gaining funding for your state. This will help to determine the increase in employment, fund schools and hospitals.
The conference provided a Census Timeline of operations: Here are a few dates
March 27 Jackson heights 2010 census kickoff event first 100 families that show up receives free metro cards (amount was not indicated)
April 1 second mailing of Census survey will be arriving for those people who haven't mailed their form back
May 1 Census workers will visit households that still have not mailed their surveys back
One important concern the panel addressed at the conference was the privacy of the census survey. They assured that all information provided is strictly confidential. My question was then why do they need of the telephone numbers of each household? If it is confidential "why is this needed?" The Census survey is asking for the head of each household to record all members in the home including illegal immigrants. I can see why people may be hesitating to fill these surveys out. Who wants to risk being deported?
More events are to come soon in the coming months. I will keep you posted.
